6 Reasons You Should Study at Capilano University's Squamish Campus

At CapU Squamish, you can choose from nearly a dozen programs across applied, general, and theoretical arts. Highlights include:

With small class sizes (averaging just 35 students), you'll be part of a close-knit learning community where collaboration and one-on-one support are part of the experience.

Learn by doing

CapU Squamish emphasizes hands-on learning through practicums, labs, field studies and real-world projects — especially within the vibrant Sea-to-Sky corridor.

For example, the Environment and Society program lets you work with partners to protect the biodiversity of the Átl'ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound Biosphere. Interested in eco-tourism, sustainable business or climate action? Our Sustainable Economics courses blend academic study with the outdoor adventure opportunities Squamish is known for.

You can also fast-track your education through summer intensives — short, place-based courses that offer immersive and practical learning.

Support every step of the way

CapU offers a range of student services to help you thrive:

  • Academic Advising to help align your courses with your goals
  • Career Services to prepare you for life after graduation
  • Accessibility and Health Services including mental health and counselling support

If you're First Nations, Métis or Inuit, our Indigenous Services team provides culturally sensitive support, from registration help to guidance navigating both academic and personal life.

A commitment to truth and reconciliation

CapU Squamish is deeply committed to advancing Truth and Reconciliation. Through Chén̓chenstway — a living document that informs our decolonization work — we collaborate with the Squamish Nation, Elders, and Indigenous scholars to embed the lived experience of Indigenous communities into our curriculum, services and partnerships.

In 2023–24, CapU entered agreements with the District of Squamish and the Sea-to-Sky School District to co-create learning opportunities focused on reconciliation and Indigenous education.
